There are truly terrible people out there who you still feel sorry for once who you learn who they used to be. Then there are those like Ayna Aiya, who seem to embody the kind of evil that never dies. I've tried feeling sorry for her. I've met some of her contemporaries who still feel sorry for her. But they didn't go through what I did. They weren't on the receiving end of her self-perpetuating cycle of shit and blood. Forget her. I'm glad she's dead, and I'd do it again.
Full Name: Ayna Aiya
Year of Birth: 4488
Race: Human, possibly Huling
Spiritual Status: Non-reincarnated at birth
Ayna, who often went by her full name later in life, was one of Cerilyn's born and bred. Although her mother was a kitchen servant in Second Tribe's fortress, rumors abounded that her father was none other than the chief. The same chief who later acted quite inappropriately with young Ayna and may have led to the death of her mother.
Whether because of her deplorable environment or a mote on her heart, Ayna went on to make tribal history when she charmed her way into the chief's quarters and killed him in the middle of the night. Not only did she become one of the youngest chiefs in Cerilynian history due to right of regicide, but she did so without ever having trained to become a mercenary herself.
Ayna lasted as chief for over twenty years, leaving behind a legacy of abuse and ineffective money management. When she was killed by her successor, nobody cared. When historians took pen to paper to remark on her legacy, they could only come up with the phrase "she was once chief."
But despite Ayna's addictions to narcotics and teenage girls, her soul still touched those who would go on to build a bigger and better tribe after her passing. Many argue that without her there would have been no Cairn di'Cerilyn and no golden age to follow. Nor would her soul have the chance to go on and do better in another life.
